Job Description:
The Farm Manager/Research Assistant is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities:
Ground clearing and preparation for planting Overseeing of propagation, planting, weeding, pruning, and harvest Scouting and identification of pest, disease, and nutrition threats Design and implementation of pest, disease, and weed control, irrigation and plant nutrition Monitor, evaluate and improve farming techniques Upkeep of a clean and organized field and facility Maintenance of supplies, equipment, trellising, sheds, and screenhouses Regular interaction with managers and team members Assisting with the recruitment, training, and management of field workers Data collection and data entry using Microsoft Office Safeguarding of PSI's confidential and proprietary information and materials Requirements:
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills Pesticide Applicator's license Experience driving a tractor Ability to work shifts that may differ from standard business hours Detail oriented and strong organizational skills Excellent time management and ability to perform multiple ongoing tasks Ability to solve problems with a sense of urgency and minimal supervision Must be punctual, dependable, and a self-starter Ability to work mostly independently Capability to lift 50 lbs on a frequent basis Suitability for physically demanding work in hot Florida field conditions Florida driver's license and ability to be insured by our company's policy A passion for horticulture is essential Bilingual communication skills preferred (English and Spanish) Farming experience desirable Please send a resume with reference name and phone numbers to Kendra Blaker at kblaker@plantsciences.
